Do not try this with YOUR baby

In attempt to "buy some time" this afternoon before nap time, I captured Millie's attention by blowing a bubble with my long-chewed Trident gum (Dentist-Approved). What was Millie's reaction you ask... well, she tried to kiss it. She didn't try to grab it or smack it. She opened her mouth and moved her head toward it. So, I did what every sensible mom would do when no one's watching; I kissed her with the bubble. We did it over and over again. She wouldn't close her mouth except to whine in between bubbles. Thank goodness she doesn't have any teeth yet. What a mess that would be.

10 days in FLORIDA

Wow! Well, I'll begin with we made it home and Millie was so great on the plane. She either slept, played or ate the whole way there and back without a whimper. Oh, she did puke up some cheerios when one got stuck in her throat. That was a riot! The grandmother sitting next to me handed me the "throw up" bag from the seat pocket so I could unload what was caught in my hands. (For some reason, my first reaction was to try to catch the liquid concoction.) Then she held Millie while I cleaned the throw up from my lap. Here's a picture of Millie when we were reunited with Daddy today.

Now I'm just going to show some pictures and a brief note to sum up our trip because we did a lot:
1. Millie went ice skating with Papa. Papa is a professional ice skater so what better person to take Millie out for her first ice experience but Papa! Girls were practicing all around them on the rink. Millie was a little distracted by them.

2. My sister, Lauren, found her wedding gown- my personal highlight of the weekend. Millie was a trooper as she slept on-the-go and in good spirits the for the most part. No, you can't see the dress, but here are two of my favorite photos from the day.

3. It was a big day. Not only did we go dress shopping but Millie also got to meet her great-grandmas, great aunts and uncles, and cousins. She's proven to be quite the social butterfly. Smiling, laughing and letting family hold her without having a meltdown. hooray! She's pictured here with Grandma D'Amico and Aunt Joan. She took a special liking to my cousin Mary's son, Dillon. Millie laughed anytime he moved.

4. We went to lunch with my mom and I snapped this shot. Mom got her laughing so hard I had to get that on camera too...

5. My good friends, Danielle and Jimma with Emree, her baby girl, came to dinner one night. Emree and Millie enjoyed bathtime and played together while we got to catch up.

6. Millie waved... at the dog, no less.

And now, the root beer... this picture is for some comedy relief.

Up, up and away... again!

We're heading to FL until October 25th so you won't see any posts until then. Pray for Millie and me as we fly once again. Bye for now...

Millie at 7 months

More glamour shots of Millie taken by Matt with his new work camera in our backyard. The dress she's wearing was given to her by Aunt Meg and Uncle Leo at one of our 3 baby showers. It looks so precious on her.

Two posts in one day?! What?!

Tonight was a breakthrough! Millie didn't cry during her bath. Usually she is so tired that right when she hits the bath she knows it's almost bedtime, and that's when the breakdown happens. Well, not tonight. She was so pleasant.

I'm racking my brain trying to figure out what it was about this day that made the difference. Then I realized, oh yeah, we spent our morning hanging out with her cousins. That must have been it! And,... Matt played guitar for her tonight. She was so soothed by it that it put her to sleep. So sweet!

Here's a video of an earlier rendition.

Sippy Cups and Spike

Millie started taking a sippy cup this week. Surprisingly, it didn't take much time to teach her. She's got the sucking down and is working on holding it herself. This skill will definitely come in handy on our next plane excursion. I think it looks a lot better a baby drinking from a water bottle, don't you?

And, she's just discovered her hair and is showing some obsession with it. She combs her fingers through it when I'm nursing her. It's really cute. She seems to have a new 'do too. It's starting to grow out and straight up like a spike. Again, so cute.

Farm Outing with MOPS

We visited Gillis Hill Farm this morning with Leigh and the kids and the rest of the MOPs crew. We enjoyed a wagon ride around the grounds, pumpkins, and delicious homemade vanilla ice cream. Leigh and Curtis took some great photos to share with you...

Driving under the Influence

The baby voice. The funny faces. The peek a boos. The crazy dance. The oink oinks and the moo moos. Even the bark barks. We do whatever it takes to entertain our little one to drag a minute into an extra 15 just so we can make it through the grocery line or the drive thru or the car ride home. As a mom, you know why your baby cries. You know she's hungry, gassy, tired, bored, or just wants some attention, etc. And when those times are somewhat inconvenient, what do we do... we distract. This video is a prime example and my reason #1 (selfishly) to have at least two children (but not anytime soon). One cries, the other distracts, and Daddy gets everyone home safely.

Millie at 6 months, 3 weeks and a day

Are you tired of hearing about what Millie's up to at 6 months? Well hang in there because the month is almost over. Until then, here's another update from Millie's 6 month doctor appointment today:

Weight: 15 lbs, 7.8 oz (not quite the 17, like I suspected from a previous post. She must have had a dirty diaper and a full tummy when I weighed her that day. OR maybe my math wasn't right, which is very likely.)

Height: 27.2" (She grew by 1/2 an inch since her 4 month check up)

She is in good health. Her ears, skin, and overall body are healthy. She has been coughing here and there so I asked the dr about that. He listened to her lungs and noticed some wheezing. He said, however, she showed no signs of a cold or anything else. He suspected possibly allergies to the change in weather. He said it should go away on its own.

She's developing just like any other six month old. She can roll from her tummy to her back, sit up, stand while holding my hand, grab and pat at objects, eating solids well, turns her head at loud noises, smiles back when smiled to, most of the time, squeals a lot, and says "dadadadada" all the time along with "fafafa" but no "mamamama" yet :)

She doesn't have any teeth , isn't rolling from back to tummy, and doesn't crawl (which I prefer- less clean up for mommy!). All stuff that we are not worried about so all in all, we are proud of our little one!
