Millie's First Thanksgiving

We started our weekend on Wednesday when Matt's parents stopped by. They read books to Millie and played with her. We went over to the playground to swing. I'm glad they got to see our house and made a fabulous dinner for us before our early start to GA the next morning.

It's tradition to celebrate Thanksgiving at my Uncle Art and Aunt Pam's house along with our entire family of about 50 or so. I was pregnant during this time last year and just remember thinking how cool it will be this year to have our new baby with us. And there we were. This Thanksgiving weekend included a couple of fried turkeys1 (Millie gobbled up the turkey) along with the incredible fixins, a hayride around the grounds, a flag football game where Millie and I cheered on Dada, a fabulous movie date night (I highly recommend "Australia"), and lots of rain. Millie played with my cousin Amanda's daughter, Madison. We caught them holding hands in their walkers. Too cute! Millie gets really excited any time she sees other babies and even older kids. She starts making "conversation" with them almost like she wants to be their friend right away. She's got such a personality. Gotta love her! We hope everyone else had a fantastic Thanksgiving and we are so excited about Christmas. We're venturing to Orlando to see Mickey Dec 17-22. Yea!

A girl and her dog, Elmo and Smiling on cue

Millie is fascinated with animals these days. She still thinks Bella is hysterical, and she loves her big animal book which will be accompanying us during our Thanksgiving trip in GA.

She also loves and knows Elmo now. She's got a couple of Elmo books she's favored lately.

And... I think she thinks the camera may be a permanent fixture in my hand because today I asked her to smile so I could take a picture and this is what she did...

You Tube is My Tube

I have a couple of video clips (Millie clapping and laughing) that are too large to upload on this blog. You may have received an email from me inviting you to view my videos or something like that from youtube.com. I may or may not change the status from "public" to "private" so if you didn't get an email from me and want to view more Millie videos in the future then please send me your email address and I'll add you to the list. In the meantime, you can view the new videos on www.youtube.com/brookedm23.

Here are some photos taken within the last week.

Oh, so that's what that's for!... Millie at 8 months

Millie and I took a trip to the post office this morning after bible study. You know the kiosk in the lobby where you can buy stamps and such? Well, did you know you can also use that scale to weigh your child? It's not advertised but the scale is great for sitting on... Turns out my 8 month old weighs 16 lbs, 3.6 oz. What a multi-purpose machine and so convenient!

Long Weekends Rock!

Matt had four days off this weekend hence the delay of our weekend posting. We had so much fun I wish every weekend was Saturday through Tuesday. We spent Saturday and Sunday in Columbia, SC with some much needed time with the grandparents, Aunts and Uncles. They have this big backyard with fun Autumn leaves everywhere so we took some shots out there. I guess when Millie gets older is when she'll start enjoying piles of leaves, but this time she thought they were just too scratchy.
Check out the funny look on her face. She was pretty upset.

Finger Foods and Turning Pages

Here's some video of Millie feeding herself on Monday. Since then she's mostly pinching her food to pick it up. I haven't seen a lot of shoveling...

And here's more video of her turning pages on her exersaucer this evening. She figured out if she turned the pages then she would hear the sounds. I wonder if she would turn pages in a book. We'll try it out tomorrow but I thought this was pretty advanced for her age...

Halloween and Wedding Weekend

Millie's first Halloween included three wardrobe changes. She was literally in costume all day long. We're starting her early on the Morris Halloween Costumes Galore tradition. She didn't seem to mind it one bit. Thanks to YaYa for the Bulls Cheerleader costume and to Mia for the Christmas and Lil Pumpkin. I just had to put her in the Christmas outfit even though its the wrong holiday. I think red might be her color. It brings out her rosy cheeks. Millie's cousins came over to show off their costumes. Curtis was a transformer, Andie was Tinker Bell and Erin was a mermaid. After they left, the kids came in droves which is to expected when you live in a neighborhood where just about every house has at least one kiddo. We did run out of candy but not before 8 o'clock,
so I think we did ok.

Then on Saturday, we drove to Charlotte to attend our friend, Jessica's wedding. First we met up with our friends, Nikki and James, for lunch, then rushed to the hotel to get ready for the wedding. It was one of the most beautiful and elegant weddings I've ever been to. Millie was such a trooper and so well-behaved all day and night long. She was busy eating MUM-MUMS (her new favorite treat) during the wedding, tried a taste of roll and mashed potatoes and danced the night away with Daddy at the reception. She stayed up until 9:30 and conked out just before we left. Check out our new family photo in the left margin.
