Beach Day!

We went to the Isle of Palms beach today to celebrate Matt's graduation with his classmates. This was Millie's first trip to the beach. It was so windy though, that I think it put her right to sleep. She's going to just love the beach when she gets older. She can be my little beach buddy since Daddy's not a big fan of the tan, err... sunburn, rather. And, there are some other random pictures, too, that we took over the weekend.

This evening I captured some footage of Millie in one of her latest favorite spots, her butterfly swing, courtesy of Uncle Art and Aunt Pam. Thanks, you guys! Also, you can see that Bella is still somewhat clueless about this whole baby thing happening in our family. She's such a simple dog.

Millie's Many Faces

Millie likes to make faces and luckily we've caught many on camera. If only she could talk to tell us what she means. In the meantime, I'll translate for her.

This one is from her first bath at about 3 weeks old. It's Matt's favorite photo of her. We call it "Impressions of a Monkey."

I call this one the "I love the taste of bath water" face.

The hand on her forehead is her genius way of playing peek-a-boo.

Speaking of Peek-A-Boo, she's all big and bad in her stroller taking a snooze. She learned this trick yesterday. As you can see her face and body are changing. See those little rolls on her thighs? I'm so proud.

Waking up is hard to do. Millie grunts and groans as she stretches
for what seems like a really long time in order to wake up.
I think she has the longest baby torso I've ever seen!

Finally, I caught some of her voice on video as she sat on Dad's legs early on Saturday morning.

Something to write home about

These past couple of weeks I've learned a lot about parenthood. #1 Just when you think you've got it all figured out, your child goes and changes on you. So I've learned not to brag or boast about Millie sleeping well at night or taking long naps, both of which vary from day to day. If these are my biggest problems at 5 weeks, I can't imagine what's in store this next year or even tomorrow. #2 Dump the schedule when family's in town or at least be a little bit flexible. It's pretty nice to have all those hands to hold her and love on her with the slightest little wimper. #3 Today, Millie and I learned a new word, "BabyBjorn." We learned if mommy sits baby in it, then she will fall fast asleep in T minus 2 seconds. See her little eye poking out in the photo? It's so convenient carrying her little 8 lbs self around and she seems to be pretty darn comfortable. Now I can actually get things done. Watch out dishes, here I come!

Now, I must revert back to #1 and never speak of the Bjorn magic again!

We were out and about today. Not much to look at so Millie thought she would take a snooze.

Millie's Baby Dedication

We love the weekends because we get to spend lots of time together as a family. The middle of the night, however is a different story. On Friday, Millie got to see what it's like to sleep in her own room in her very own bed. She did better than we expected. Aside from the initial crying the first night, we decided to try it again last night. Again, she was the perfect baby. She only woke up once to eat and then back to dreamland until 7am. Woohoo!... sanity has returned for mom and dad!

She did have a big day yesterday, which may be the reason for her sound sleeping. Last night, she was dedicated at the church, enjoyed a little bit of worship music during the evening service, and to top it all off, partied it up at Carrabba's for Aunt Katie's birthday!

Today, Millie got to enjoy some golf with daddy. Pretty darn fun!

All that action calls for a whole week to recover! Then again, maybe that's mommy saying that. :)

Milestone

Our dental school journey is finally nearing the end. This past Saturday Matt completed his final boards exam and PASSED! Here's a picture of him and Millie after it was all over.

She's here!

Approximately one month from my last post and who knew so much would change... Amelia was born on March 11, two weeks early. She is adjusting well to her new mom and dad. I'm impressed with her coos and little baby sneezes. I even love watching her sleep. It's crazy to think we made her! With God's help, of course. So far, she has been to the movies, taken her picture with the Easter Bunny, slept through church service, gone on several shopping excursions- mainly to Babies R Us and Walmart, and hung out with mommy's friends. She's such a social butterfly. Her favorite things are strolling around the neighborhood and bouncing in mommy and daddy's arms.
